I’m Sarah Davis, a professional risk manager about to traverse the length of the planet from the North Pole to the South Pole — 25,000 km, (mostly) human-powered — to help combat modern slavery and ignite a million dreams.

Bikepacking, kayaking, ocean rowing, skiing — one line from 90°N to 90°S, through 15 countries.
Geographic North Pole to Norway
My journey begins at the most northern point on Earth — sea ice, the midnight sun, and the longest single human-powered traverse ever attempted by a woman. I board Le Commandant Charcot from Longyearbyen to the Pole and back, then descend from Nordkapp, in Norway’s far north, to begin the human-powered traverse south.
Norway to Spain
Thousands of kilometres by bike, from the Arctic Circle to the Mediterranean, crossing seven countries on the way to the southern tip of Spain.
Across the Strait of Gibraltar
Swap pedals for paddles. A short but technical crossing from the southern tip of Spain to the Moroccan coast, with a safety escort boat alongside.
Morocco to Senegal
Back on the bike to ride the western edge of the Sahara — Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal. The longest desert section of the expedition.
Senegal to French Guiana
Rowing the Atlantic alone in a 7-metre boat for one of the most challenging sections. This will cross the equator, the halfway mark for this expedition.
French Guiana to Ushuaia
Back on land for the longest leg, riding down through South America to Ushuaia, the southernmost city on earth, and then to Punta Arenas, staging point for the final leg.
Punta Arenas to the Geographic South Pole
A flight from Punta Arenas to Union Glacier and then Hercules Inlet to begin the final leg on skis across the polar plateau — constant wind, regular white-outs and fields of sastrugi, gradually climbing to more than 2,800 m.
